Course Details

Duration:

The diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) Programme shall be of two academic years or four semesters including school based experience and internship in teaching. Student teacher shall however be permitted to complete the programme within maximum period of two years from the date of admission to the programme.

Working days:

  • There shall be at least two hundred working days per year exclusive of the period of examination and admission.
  • A working day will be of a minimum of 5-6 hours adding up to a minimum of 36 hours per week. The institution shall ensure the availability of teacher and student for consultation and mentoring providing group or individual guidance.
  • The minimum attendance of student teacher shall have to be 80% for all course work and practicum and 90% for school internship.

Eligibility:

  • Candidates with at least 50% Marks in the senior secondary/10+2 or its equivalent are eligible for admission.
  • The reservation and relaxation in marks for SC/ST/OBC/PWD and other category shall be as per the rules of the central Government/State Government and the University.

Admission Procedure:

Admission shall be made on the Basis of Marks Obtained in the qualifying Examination and /or in the entrance examination or any other selection process as per the policy of the State Government/ U.T Administration and the University.

After completing Diploma in Education Course successful candidates may work as Elementary Level Teacher in Educational Institution. They may also find work at Institutes imparting elementary level education like-
