On 21st June 2019 Jaipur Nursing College, Maharaj Vinayak Global University, Jaipur organized and celebrated the 5th International Yoga Day in the campus.
Lord Shiva is considered as the father of ancient Yoga. The word ‘Yoga’ came from a Sanskrit Word “Yuja” which means to bind, to align, to hold.
Our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi proposed 21st June as International Yoga Day at United Nations General Assembly on 27th September 2014 as it is the longest day of the year in northern Hemisphere, having special significance in many parts of the world. UNGA declared this day as International Yoga Day on 11/12/2014.
Yoga is an invaluable gift of our ancient tradition. It is a holistic approach to health and well being. Yoga is not merely on exercise but it is a process to discover the oneness with yourself, the world and the nature.
For year 2019 the theme on International Yoga Day is “Yoga for Climate Action”.
On this occasion a Seminar was organized by Jaipur Nursing College, Maharaj Vinayak Global University. Mrs. Pooja Mohan & Mrs. Rimmy Raju, Assistant Professor of Jaipur Nursing College were the resource person for this seminar. In this seminar, the importance of Yoga in our life / health including this year theme “Yoga for Climate Action” was emphasized. Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Yadav, Principal & Dean, Jaipur Nursing College appeals to all the participants to practice Yoga in their daily living activities. During this seminar, all the teaching faculty, non teaching staff and M.Sc. Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing, B.Sc. Nursing and GNM Students were present. All the participants got the opportunities to know and practice how the yoga embodies as unity of mind and body. Different Yoga Postures like Tadasan, Vrikshasana, Utthita Hastapadasana, Trikonsasana, Veerabhadrasana, Utkatasana, Marjariasana and Pranayam etc were presented by stating their significance on overall health. Students also performed Yoga and Meditations for improving their concentration in studies. The celebration was concluded by singing National Anthem.
